Prescott Valley, Arizona – Earlier this week, Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation (YC4KF), distributed over $14,000 worth of toys and other age-appropriate gifts to 250 foster youth in the area through their annual Holiday Toy Drive.
There are nearly 400 foster youth in Yavapai County. Many of which have never experienced a joyful holiday and, for some, this is their first holiday away from their families.
That’s why, for the last 15 years, YC4KF has placed donation boxes in local businesses and organizations throughout the Quad-Cities to collect holiday gifts for this area’s abused and neglected youth. This year, YC4KF placed 42 collection boxes in 38 organizations across the Quad-Cities like the YMCA, American Legion, Foo
thills Bank, and Prescott Realty Executives to name a few. Within 4 weeks, the citizens of the Quad-Cities donated enough toys and gifts to fill YC4KF staff and volunteer vehicles multiple times over.
“To put it in perspective, the donations gave nearly 62% of the entire foster population in Yavapai County a better holiday season; I’m blown away by the generosity and impact this community has made,” said Cheyenne Perez, YC4KF Office Aide.
Donations were distributed on December 13th and 14th at the Prevent Child Abuse Arizona Building in Prescott Valley to local foster families, DCS caseworkers, CASAs, and other organizations who have direct contact with local youth in foster care.
“Everyone at Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation would like to express gratitude for what the community did to make this Christmas and holiday season special for our local foster youth,” Said Missy Sikora, YC4KF Board Vice President and Holiday Toy Drive Chair. “None of this would be possible without their caring and contribution!”
