Gift Card Initiatives
The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation has three gift card based programs; Supplemental Cards, Emergency Cards, and Celebration Cards. These programs ensure that foster youth feel special when they reach milestones, have their emergency needs met, and recieve extra funds for clothing or other needs to supplement what the state of Arizona provides.
Supplemental Cards
The state of Arizona provides foster children with $150 for clothing each year. This amount is inadequate, especially for growing children. To make sure every youth in care has adequate clothing, Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation provides a bi-annual clothing supplement (which can be used for other basic needs) for all youth in foster care under the jurisdiction of the Yavapai County Juvenile Courts.
Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation gives these gift cards to the Department of Child Safety to distribute in the Spring and Winter season.
Emergency Cards
Many children who are removed from their homes and placed into DCS custody arrive wearing only the clothes on their backs. The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation provides the Department of Child Safety (DCS) with funds for these children so they can be properly clothed immediately upon removal from their parents. These funds are also used for any emergency need the child may have, including a meal.
The Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation provides these cards to the DCS and CASA offices in Yavapai County Quarterly.
Celebration Cards
Celebration Cards are gift cards that are given to foster youth by those who are familiar with their case to celebrate milestones, birthdays, and other accomplishments.
These cards can be found in both the Prescott Department of Child Safety and CASA offices.
Cards can only be obtained by CASA volunteers and DCS Caseworkers for their foster youth.
